Description
The Toyota Tacoma has held the title of best-selling mid-size truck in the United States for so long the competition barely registers. The 2017 generation brought the Tacoma into its most capable era — standard locking rear differential and crawl control on TRD trims made it competitive off-road without needing aftermarket assistance. It was, in 2017, the truck that most accurately represented how American truck buyers had changed: performance still mattered, but so did capability rather than just size.
The Mod Shop concept is one of the more thoughtful things Hot Wheels has done with the Elite 64 line: recognising that truck culture is inseparable from modification culture, and giving collectors agency over how the casting sits in their collection. Multiple wheel, body, and accessory configurations are included in the set — this is less a standard single-piece casting and more a collector's build kit at 1:64 scale. Real Riders wheels. For anyone who has spent time thinking about what a well-specced Tacoma should look like, this set invites an opinion.
