The Hakosuka — box Skyline — was the car that established the GT-R name. Nissan gave it an S20 six-cylinder engine derived directly from their Formula 1 programme, which remains one of the most significant engineering decisions a Japanese manufacturer made in that era. Between 1969 and 1972, the original C10 GT-R won 52 consecutive races in Japanese touring car competition.
