The E30 M3 was built to go racing. BMW needed to homologate it for Group A touring car competition, and the minimum production run was 5,000 units. What they built to meet that number turned out to be the most celebrated M car in the company's history. Wide rear guards, raised boot spoiler, a high-revving four-cylinder — none of it was expected, all of it was brilliant. The E30 M3 won the European Touring Car Championship in 1987, 1988 and 1989.
The RLC Exclusive honours the road car specification — the version collectors find in garages and restoration shops today, not the track-modified race car. It is a correct representation of a car that changed BMW's direction and established the M3 nameplate as something worth owning. Decades later, tidy E30 M3s command serious money at auction, and their reputation has not faded.
